with support of #DKH and within the Increasing Resilience through Innovative and Sustainable Improvement of Food Security and Livelihoods project for Returnees, IDPs, Migrants and Host Communities in the Western Coastal areas of Yemen, #Nahda_Makers implemented a training on the production of fuel-efficient cooking solutions, food dryers, and product marketing for Self-help groups in Al-Mokha district – Taiz

Where 220 trainees from the areas of Al-Mokha district were trained as follows:

  • 120 from the youth were trained in blacksmithing, industrial carpentry and product marketing.
  • 40 women were trained in sewing skills to produce thermal bags and market the products.
  • 60 women were trained in the skills of drying food and marketing dried food products.

The self-help groups were also trained to solve problems and overcome challenges by generating ideas in product marketing and acquiring knowledge and special skills of blacksmithing, sewing and food drying.

The trainees benefited from the blacksmithing and industrial carpentry course, and the trainees also benefited from sewing heat preservation bags, while providing them with entrepreneurship training and marketing products during training.

For their part, the trainees showed interest in participating and forming self-help groups, and the #Nahda_Makers team worked to define the responsibilities and roles of self-help groups and make them aware of the importance of training and forming groups during training.

All of this aims to build the capacities of trainees from that region on how to acquire skills for blacksmithing, industrial carpentry, sewing heat preservation bags, as well as drying food for production around fuel-saving solutions and food drying.
