As part of ongoing efforts to support durable solutions for refugees in Yemen, Nahda Makers Organization (#NMO) is supporting UNHCR to kick off the implementation of its 2026 “Assisted Spontaneous Return” (ASR) programme, by assisting an initial 155 refugee to return to Somalia. This activity is part of a broader multi-sectoral project supporting refugees and asylum seekers in Yemen, implemented with UNHCR.

The ASR programme aims to support Somali refugees who wish to voluntarily return to their country of origin in a safe and dignified manner. The programme involves a series of integrated procedures to facilitate voluntary return in line with humanitarian standards. UNHCR conducts voluntary return counselling, confirms the voluntary nature of returns, processes return requests, coordinates return arrangements with relevant stakeholders in Yemen and Somalia, and provides air travel and cash assistance to support return and reintegration. As part of this process, NMO supports registration and document verification, medical examinations, pre-departure awareness sessions, transportation of refugees and their luggage to the airport, and the facilitation of departure procedures in coordination with the relevant authorities.

For the first return flight of 2026, 155 refugees residing in Al-Basateen area of Aden Governorate expressed their interest to take part in the programme. Future trips in 2026 are expected to include refugees residing in other governorates.

This activity forms part of broader efforts to support durable solutions for refugees by ensuring that return journeys are carried out voluntarily, safely and in an orderly manner while preserving the dignity and well-being of the beneficiaries.

As part of Displacement and Climate-induced Emergency Response in Yemen Project, funded by #ECW and implemented in partnership with #NRC, #Nahda_Makers (#NMO) conducted a series of specialized trainings for teachers and education personnel on Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS), School-Based Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR), and Gender-Based Violence (GBV) in the school environment in Al Hudaydah and Taiz governorates.

The trainings aimed to strengthen the capacity of education personnel to provide safe, protective, and supportive learning environments for children affected by crises.

The trainings brought together 187 participants, including 83 men and 104 women, comprising teachers, school administrators, social workers, and School Crisis Management Teams from the targeted schools.

The sessions focused on equipping participants with the knowledge and practical skills needed to promote children's mental health and psychosocial well-being, strengthen emergency preparedness and response, reduce school disaster risks, and prevent and safely respond to gender-based violence in school settings. Participants also enhanced their understanding of appropriate referral pathways to ensure children receive the support and protection they need.

These trainings are part of ongoing efforts to empower education personnel to create safe, protective, inclusive, and supportive learning environments that promote the well-being of children affected by crises, ensure the continuity of education, and strengthen schools' resilience in the face of emergencies and future challenges.

As part of the Displacement and Climate-induced Emergency Response in Yemen project, funded by #ECW and in partnership with #NRC, #Nahda_Makers (#NMO) is currently constructing new classrooms ahead of the new school year in two schools across Al Hudaydah governorate. The classrooms are being built using child-friendly and disability-inclusive designs in accordance with the standards and designs approved by the Ministry of Education.

The activity will benefit 1,390 students, including 760 boys and 630 girls, through the construction of five permanent classrooms that will improve the learning environment and help meet the growing demand for quality education.

The intervention aims to enhance the learning environment and increase the capacity of the targeted schools by providing safe and inclusive classrooms that meet the needs of children, including learners with disabilities, while complying with the Ministry of Education's approved designs.

It also contributes to reducing classroom overcrowding, improving access to education, supporting the continuity of learning, and creating a safer, more inclusive, and more conducive learning environment for children affected by crises.

As part of its efforts to promote the economic empowerment of rural women and support local communities, #Nahda_Makers (#NMO) is implementing the "Economic Empowerment of Rural Women and Their Communities" project, funded by the (#BMZ) through #KfW, in partnership with the #DRC.

As part of the project's activities, the organization launched a Life Skills Training Program targeting 359 beneficiaries in Al-Mawaset District, Taiz Governorate. The training aims to equip participants with the personal, social, and practical skills needed to effectively address everyday life and labor market challenges.

The program focuses on strengthening participants’ capacities in effective communication, teamwork, problem-solving, decision-making, and time management, contributing to improved economic and social opportunities while enhancing their ability to build more stable and productive futures.

Overall, the "Economic Empowerment of Rural Women and Their Communities" project targets 1,537 beneficiaries across Tuban District in Lahj Governorate and Al-Mawaset District in Taiz Governorate. The project aims to economically empower women and strengthen their role in the recovery of rural communities through sustainable development approaches, contributing to improved livelihoods and enhanced community resilience.

Over the past years, Yemen has witnessed a prolonged conflict that has led to a continuous deterioration in humanitarian and living conditions. This has affected people’s lives through worsening food insecurity, water scarcity, and declining livelihood opportunities, alongside rising prices and economic decline. Al-Mawaset and Al-Selw districts in Taiz Governorate are among the most vulnerable and affected areas, facing increasing challenges such as the depletion of water resources, the drying up of agricultural lands, and weak investment in the agricultural sector. These factors have further exacerbated the suffering of the most vulnerable households, limiting their ability to improve their sources of income and strengthen their livelihood resilience.

Abdulwadood Ahmed Naji, 38 years old, is a farmer living in Al-Selw District, Al-Qabila sub-district. He supports a family consisting of seven males and three females. He works in farming maize, almonds, potatoes, and onions, which helps him cover his family’s expenses.

Abdulwadood tells us about his situation before the intervention, saying that he used to travel for about fifteen minutes by motorcycle, which cost him 8,000 Yemeni rials for transportation alone, not including the other costs of purchasing vegetables. He added that most of the vegetables available on the market were full of fertilizers and chemicals.

In December 2025, Nahda Makers Organization (NMO), with support from the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), intervened by implementing small- agricultural initiatives project for the most vulnerable families in the Al-Selw and Al-Mawasit districts. The intervention provided beneficiaries with a complete home garden kit, including: A metal greenhouse structure netting, high-quality tomato seeds, agricultural tools, a water tank and drip irrigation pipes. In addition to the physical supplies, all beneficiaries received comprehensive training on agricultural value addition and modern farming techniques. To ensure the highest quality of implementation, NMO’s agricultural engineers provided continuous technical support throughout the setup and cultivation phases. Following a beneficiary list submitted by local WUAs in the target areas, the NMO team conducted a field visit to Abdulwadood's home to verify her eligibility against the selection criteria. He was successfully selected and provided with her own home garden

Regarding his situation after the intervention, Abdulwadood told us, “I started to rely on myself for vegetables, especially tomatoes, zucchini, and coriander, and I saved a lot of money. The most important benefit for my family and me from the home garden is that I have stopped buying vegetables full of fertilizers and chemicals. Now all our vegetables are fresh and harvested daily, and I also share some of these fresh tomatoes with my neighbors.” Speaking about his future plans for the garden he received, Abdulwadood confirmed that he intends to plant garlic, watermelon, and cucumbers.

Finally, Abdulwadood expressed his sincere thanks and appreciation to Nahda Makers Organization (NMO) and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), as well as to the agricultural engineers for their efforts in raising beneficiaries’ awareness about the production of natural fertilizers. He also hoped that supporting organizations would increase the number of beneficiaries of home garden projects, while suggesting that the garden area be expanded to allow the cultivation of more than one type of vegetable.

It is worth noting that this activity is part of the " Integrated Water Resources Management to Enhance Resilience of Agriculture (ERA) and Food Security" project, funded by the (#BMZ) through (#KfW), implemented by the (#UNDP) in collaboration with #Nahda_Makers (#NMO).

#NMO_ORG has successfully completed the rehabilitation of agricultural terraces in Al-Silw and Al-Mawasit districts of Taiz Governorate under the Integrated Water Resources Management to Enhance Resilience of Agriculture (ERA) and Food Security Project, implemented by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) through the German Development Bank (KfW).

The intervention benefited 335 households, including 29 women-headed households, with the objective of restoring the functionality of agricultural terraces, protecting them from further degradation, and improving their capacity to retain rainwater. These efforts contribute to increased agricultural productivity and enhanced food security for the targeted communities.

The rehabilitation works included clearing accumulated soil and debris, reconstructing collapsed stone retaining walls, reinforcing terrace foundations, leveling agricultural land, establishing and rehabilitating rainwater drainage channels, and stabilizing erosion-prone areas to reduce soil loss and ensure the long-term sustainability of agricultural land.

The activity was implemented through a Cash for Work (CfW) approach, providing temporary income opportunities for participating households while supporting community-led efforts to restore agricultural infrastructure and protect natural resources.

Agricultural terrace rehabilitation is considered one of the most effective interventions in Yemen's mountainous areas, as it helps conserve fertile soil, improve rainwater harvesting, reduce erosion, and strengthen rural communities' resilience to climate change while promoting sustainable agricultural production.

This achievement forms part of the Integrated Water Resources Management to Enhance Resilience of Agriculture (ERA) and Food Security Project, which aims to improve sustainable water resources management, strengthen the resilience of the agricultural sector, enhance food security, and improve livelihoods for rural communities in Taiz Governorate.

As part of the “Life-changing Interventions for Females to Thrivein” in Taiz Governorate, funded by the #European_Union and implemented in partnership with #ZOA, Nahda Makers (#NMO) supervised Joodan Organization for Development and Peace and Seyaq Youth and Development Organization in conducting a community consultation workshop with community representatives entitled, "The Role of Protection Programs in Promoting Economic Empowerment and Their Impact on the Reality of Entrepreneurial Projects for Women and Persons with Disabilities".

The workshop brought together 25 participants, including 22 women and 3 men, representing local communities from the targeted districts, alongside representatives from Joodan Organization for Development and Peace and Seyaq Youth and Development Organization.

The workshop aimed to discuss the role of protection programs and psychosocial support in strengthening the economic empowerment of women and persons with disabilities by reviewing key challenges and needs, exchanging experiences, and identifying practical solutions that contribute to the success and sustainability of entrepreneurial initiatives. It also featured interactive discussion sessions to enhance participants' understanding of their role in advocating women's rights and contributing to the development of a more just and inclusive society.

Furthermore, the workshop sought to strengthen participants' understanding of the role of protection programs in supporting economic empowerment and to highlight the importance of psychosocial support in enabling women and persons with disabilities to establish and manage sustainable entrepreneurial projects. It also promoted dialogue and coordination among relevant stakeholders and civil society organizations to improve protection and economic empowerment services.

The workshop concluded with the development of a set of advocacy messages and practical recommendations aimed at improving protection programs and enhancing the success and sustainability of entrepreneurial projects in line with the needs and context of local communities.

Tasks and Responsibilities:

• Conduct technical field assessments and prepare detailed engineering designs, drawings, Bill of Quantities (BoQs), technical specifications, and cost estimates for Shelter/CCCM/ Protection/WASH/FASC/Health / Education and infrastructure.
• Supervise daily construction and rehabilitation works, manage contractors, consultants, and suppliers, and ensure strict compliance with project timelines, budget, and quality standards.
• Prepare tender documents, participate in the technical evaluation of bids, and support procurement processes to ensure high-quality selection.
•  Incorporate Climate-Smart Agriculture (CSA), Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR), and environmental mitigation measures into physical designs and infrastructure interventions.
•  Coordinate closely with programs, logistics, finance, supply chain, and M&E teams, and represent NMO in relevant sector and cluster coordination meetings.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

• Education: Bachelor's degree in civil, Architectural, Agricultural, or Water & Environmental Engineering.
• Experience: Minimum 3 to 5 years of practical field experience in engineering and infrastructure works, preferably within the humanitarian sector (specifically in Shelter, CCCM, WASH, or Agricultural projects).
• Technical Skills: Proficient in AutoCAD, Microsoft Excel, and relevant hydraulic analysis software.

As part of ongoing efforts to improve rural infrastructure and enhance the resilience of the agricultural sector, 13 rural roads have been rehabilitated in Al-Silw and Al-Mawaset districts of Taiz Governorate under the Integrated Water Resources Management to Enhance Resilience of Agriculture (ERA) and Food Security project. The project is funded by #KfW, implemented by #UNDP, and carried out in cooperation with #NMO.

The rehabilitation covered a total length of 1,578.5 linear meters, including 761 linear meters in Al-Mawaset District and 817.5 linear meters in Al-Silw District. These improvements are expected to facilitate transportation, strengthen connectivity between agricultural areas, markets, and essential services, and improve the movement of agricultural produce.

A total of 113,686 people are expected to benefit from these interventions, including 67,650 beneficiaries in Al-Mawaset District and 46,036 beneficiaries in Al-Silw District. Women represent 50% of the total beneficiaries.

This intervention forms part of the project's broader efforts to strengthen infrastructure that supports the agricultural sector by improving access to markets. The initiative is expected to reduce transportation costs, facilitate farmers’ access to marketing opportunities, enhance livelihoods, strengthen food security, and increase the resilience of local communities in the face of ongoing challenges.

With funding from the@ Education Cannot Wait (ECW)  and in partnership with the @Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC), Nahda Makers Organization (NMO) is implementing rehabilitation and renovation works in targeted schools across Taiz and Al Hudaydah governorates.

The project aims to improve the learning environment and create safe, supportive, and conducive schools that enable students and educational staff to continue the educational process under better and more stable conditions.

The project targets eight schools across the districts of Dhubab and Al Mokha in Taiz Governorate, and Al Khawkha and Hays in Al Hudaydah Governorate. The targeted schools include: Al Fatah School, Al Amal School, Martyr Mohammed Ali School, Al Salam Al Gharafi School, 22 May Complex School, Al Noor School, Al Wahda School, and Abu Al Qasim School.

The project includes a comprehensive package of construction and rehabilitation interventions, including the rehabilitation and renovation of 69 classrooms across the eight schools, the construction of five additional classrooms in Al Khawkha and Hays districts, and the rehabilitation of 57 school latrines designed to be gender-sensitive and accessible for students with disabilities, thereby enhancing safety and inclusivity within the school environment.

The works also include the rehabilitation and installation of safe water points and the connection of schools to water networks, in addition to the supply and installation of solar power systems in four schools. The project will also provide school and office furniture, as well as student desks and chairs, contributing to improved educational services and a more conducive and sustainable learning environment.

All works are scheduled to be completed before the start of the new academic year, ensuring that schools are fully prepared to receive students and resume classes in a safe and appropriate learning environment.

This project comes as part of ongoing efforts to support the education sector and improve school infrastructure, contributing to increased access to safe and quality education for children in the targeted areas.

#Nahda_Makers Organization (NMO) is proud to announce that it has officially obtained the Core Humanitarian Standard on Quality and Accountability (#CHS) Certification, marking a significant institutional milestone that reflects the organization’s commitment to quality, accountability, and transparency in its humanitarian and development work in line with internationally recognized standards.

The certification was awarded following a comprehensive and independent assessment conducted by #HQAI, which reviewed the organization’s systems, policies, institutional practices, accountability mechanisms, and quality management processes.

On this occasion, NMO’s Executive Director stated: “Obtaining CHS Certification represents an important milestone in Nahda Makers Organization’s journey toward institutional excellence and reinforces our commitment to delivering higher-quality and more effective programs and services to the communities we serve. This accomplishment serves as a strong motivation for us to continue improving and strengthening our institutional performance.”

This achievement represents another step forward in enhancing the confidence of communities, partners, and donors in the quality and effectiveness of NMO’s humanitarian and development interventions.

As part of its humanitarian efforts to save lives and uphold the dignity of internally displaced persons (IDPs), #Nahda_Makers , with funding from #YHF, implemented the project titled  “Life-saving assistance to acutely vulnerable populations and IDPs, addressing the  CCCM, and Protection needs in  Al Ma'afer, and Jabal Habashi districts in Taiz governorate” The project targeted IDPs and the most vulnerable families living in several camps across Al Ma’afer and Jabal Habashi districts.

The project included a package of critical interventions aimed at improving infrastructure and essential services within the camps. Activities included shelter repair and maintenance, pathway and road maintenance, repairs to water supply and sanitation facilities, installation of solar lighting systems, enhancement of waste management systems, and community awareness campaigns to promote healthy practices and strengthen community protection.

A total of 4,482 beneficiaries living in various camps across Al Ma’afer and Jabal Habashi districts benefited from the project.

This intervention was implemented to create a safer and more stable environment for displaced populations by improving essential services within displacement sites, strengthening protection mechanisms, and responding to urgent humanitarian needs. The project also supported (CCCM) efforts, contributing to more efficient service delivery, enhanced coordination among humanitarian actors, and strengthened accountability and feedback mechanisms with displaced communities.

In addition to implementing CCCM activities at the site level in Al Ma’afer and Jabal Habashi districts, the organization also assumed responsibility for Area-Based Coordination in Jabal Habashi District, helping to improve the integration of humanitarian interventions and strengthen responses to the growing needs of IDPs and host communities.

Nahda Makers continues its humanitarian efforts to improve the living conditions of the most vulnerable groups and enhance their resilience in the face of escalating humanitarian challenges.

Hadramout Governorate in southeastern Yemen is facing escalating humanitarian and economic challenges as a result of the ongoing conflict and deteriorating economic conditions, including the continuous decline in the value of the local currency and worsening environmental conditions. The districts of Al Qatn and Sayun are particularly affected by these circumstances, which have directly impacted people’s lives and livelihoods. Amid the country’s ongoing economic crisis, the lack of stable employment opportunities remains one of the most critical challenges facing low-income families, as securing basic needs has become a daily struggle and burden for many households.

From Skill Building to Livelihood Improvement: How Did the FFA Project Turn “Fahmi Qouiqo’s” Aspirations into a Tangible Reality?

In Al Qatn District, 31-year-old Fahmi Qouiqo lives with and supports a family of four. Fahmi used to rely on irregular daily labor jobs with very limited wages that barely covered the minimum basic living expenses, placing him under continuous financial and psychological pressure as he struggled to provide for his children’s essential needs.

However, the turning point in his life began when he joined the Food Assistance for Assets (FFA) activity under the “Food to Future – #FuTuRe3” project, implemented by Nahda Makers Organization in partnership with the World Food Programme (#WFP) and supported by #BMZ & #KSRelief . Through his participation in the project’s field activities, Fahmi not only gained a temporary source of income, but also found a valuable opportunity to develop his practical skills, strengthen his professional capabilities, refine his expertise, and build a more stable future for himself and his family.

Fahmi says gratefully:

“Before joining the project, I struggled significantly to meet my family’s basic needs due to limited and unstable income. However, through this intervention, the impact was not limited to improving my living conditions; I also gained valuable practical experience in construction work, particularly in stone masonry and the construction of flood drainage channels. These skills have now become a real opportunity for me to work and improve my income in the future.”

The project has had a positive and multidimensional impact on Fahmi’s life. It contributed to his professional empowerment by equipping him with practical skills in constructing stone flood drainage channels, which enhanced his prospects for future employment in this field. In addition, the financial support he received through the project helped improve his family’s living conditions and enabled them to meet their basic needs with greater stability and dignity.

The impact of the project was not limited to the individual level; it also extended to the wider community. Fahmi and his colleagues contributed to works that help reduce flood risks and improve agricultural infrastructure in the area, thereby strengthening the community’s resilience to environmental and economic challenges.

Today, Fahmi looks forward to continuing his work in this field, emphasizing that the skills and experience he has gained represent a true capital for his professional future. In a message addressed to the supporting entities, he said:

“I would like to extend my sincere gratitude to Nahda Makers Organization and the donors for this opportunity. We hope such initiatives will continue and be expanded to other areas in urgent need of support, helping to create job opportunities for unemployed youth and enabling them to work, produce, and build a better future.”

Fahmi Qawiqo’s story reflects the positive impact of the #FuTuRe3 project in transforming short-term employment opportunities into a sustainable pathway for skills development and improved livelihood stability, thereby strengthening households’ ability to withstand and adapt to economic challenges and difficult conditions.

As part of ongoing efforts to strengthen local humanitarian leadership and expand the participation of national organizations in humanitarian coordination mechanisms, #NahdaMakers organized a consultative workshop titled “Consultative Workshop: Presenting the findings of the mapping exercise to national and international humanitarian actors and agreeing on key actions for developing an Action Plan for Enhancing Local and National NGOs' Participation in Decision-Making Processes in Coordination Mechanisms” The workshop was held under the (Humanitarian System Transformation through Local Humanitarian Leadership (HST-LHL) "project, funded by the #Ministry_of_Foreign_Affairs_Netherlands, and in partnership with #Oxfam.

The workshop brought together 40 participants representing national and local non-governmental organizations, including women-led organizations (WLOs), women’s rights organizations (WROs), and organizations of persons with disabilities (OPDs), alongside representatives from international NGOs, United Nations agencies, cluster coordinators, thematic working groups, government entities, and the private sector from the governorates of Aden, Lahj, Abyan, Taiz, Al Hudaydah, Sana’a, Marib, Hadramout Coast and Valley, and Al Mahrah.

The workshop aimed to engage key national and international humanitarian stakeholders in broad consultations to agree on priority actions that would strengthen the participation of local and national organizations in decision-making processes within humanitarian coordination mechanisms, based on the challenges and recommendations identified in the mapping study on local organizations’ participation in humanitarian coordination structures.

The workshop also included a presentation of the study’s key findings and facilitated consultative discussions among participants to identify practical priority actions for addressing the challenges faced by local and national organizations, thereby enhancing their active role and participation in humanitarian coordination and decision-making processes.

In addition, participants discussed proposed activities under each action, implementation timelines, responsible parties, and key performance indicators that would contribute to the development of a practical and comprehensive action plan to strengthen local humanitarian leadership.

As part of ongoing efforts to enhance food security and build sustainable livelihoods, the “Food to Resilience” (FuTuRe3) project, funded by #KSRelief & #BMZ and in partnership with #WFP, and in coordination with the local authority, carry out a series of agricultural interventions across the districts of Wadi and Desert Hadramout. These efforts aim to improve the efficiency of irrigation systems and support farming communities in addressing climate-related challenges.

In Seiyun District, work was carried out on the internal irrigation system, as well as main and secondary canals in Al-Hajib area. Activities were carried out in 15 locations, including the construction of water division structures and internal distribution units. Work has been completed in 10 sites so far, with implementation ongoing in the remaining locations.

Similarly, Wadi Shuhuh bin Tha’lab is witnessing parallel interventions focused on rehabilitating internal irrigation distribution systems for agricultural lands, with work underway across 24 sites.

In Al-Qatn District, the project focused on rehabilitating main and secondary canals in Wadi Jabhudh, alongside improving the benefiting agricultural lands. These efforts contribute to enhancing water resource management efficiency and increasing agricultural productivity in the area.

These interventions directly target farmers and workers in the agricultural sector, as well as individuals engaged in related trades and professions. A total of 300 beneficiaries are reached through construction activities, in addition to 700 beneficiaries supported through the distribution of agricultural inputs and the application of climate adaptation practices.

This work aligns with the project’s vision to strengthen community resilience and transform environmental challenges into sustainable development opportunities, thereby supporting the stability of the agricultural sector and enhancing food security in the region.

As part of concluding the activities of the Food to Resilience (#FuTuRe3) project, #Nahda_Makers implemented the closing workshop for representatives of local authorities and community committees in the districts of Sayun and Al-Qatn in Hadhramaut Governorate. The project is funded by the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (#KSRelief) and the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (#BMZ), in partnership with the World Food Programme (#WFP). 

The workshop featured visual presentations on the project components, implemented activities, and key achievements during the implementation period, in addition to presenting the results of the Integrated Water Resources Management study. It also included an open discussion session that addressed key lessons learned and highlighted participants’ views and recommendations aimed at improving the quality and effectiveness of future projects.

The workshop aimed to shed light on the overall achievements of the project, discuss the challenges and positive aspects encountered during implementation, and contribute to enhancing future planning based on practical experience and field insights.

The project directly benefited around 300 beneficiaries, through qualitative interventions that included rehabilitating flood protection structures, main and secondary irrigation canals, and water harvesting systems in Wadi Jabhoud in Al-Qatn District, as well as Wadi Bin Tha’lab and Wadi Bin Yamani in Sayun City. These efforts contribute to better utilization of rainwater and floodwater, mitigating the impacts of climate change, and protecting soil from erosion.

This project is part of the Food Assistance for Assets (FFA) programme, implemented over a period of 8 months (from September 2025 to April 2026), with active community participation that reflects the importance of integrating humanitarian and development efforts to achieve sustainability and strengthen community resilience.

As part of its efforts to strengthen development partnerships and empower women, Nahda Makers (NMO) signed partnership agreements with a number of civil society organizations and institutions under the project “Life-Changing Interventions for Women’s Prosperity,” funded by the #European_Union and implemented in partnership with #ZOA.

The signing ceremony took place on Wednesday, April 29, 2026, in Taiz Governorate, in the presence of Mr. Fouad Al-Faqih, Director General of the Social Affairs and Labor Office. The event was also attended by Mr. Najeeb Abdullah, representative of the Planning Office, along with representatives of the district offices of Al-Mudhaffar, Salah, and Al-Qahira. In addition, project leadership from Nahda Makers participated, as well as the project team.

The partnership agreements included ten civil society organizations and institutions: Khubara Organization, Riaya Development Foundation, Hadaf for Development Organization, Jooden Organization, Wasl Organization, Resalati Foundation, Ma’an Foundation, Basmat Hayat Foundation for Persons with Disabilities, Ibdaa Shabab Organization, and the Protection and Rehabilitation Center for Women and Girls.

These partnerships aim to implement qualitative interventions that contribute to the protection and empowerment of women, improve access to essential services, support livelihoods, and build capacities, thereby enhancing opportunities for sustainable development within the local community.

Participants emphasized the importance of strengthening partnerships between government entities and civil society organizations, reaffirming their commitment to implementing programs in accordance with quality and transparency standards to ensure a positive and sustainable impact that serves the community.

A comprehensive analytical study that maps the representation, participation, and leadership of local and national humanitarian actors in Yemen within humanitarian coordination mechanisms.
The study examines the extent of their engagement in decision-making processes and highlights a clear gap between their strong field presence and their actual influence at decision-making levels. It also identifies key structural challenges, including power imbalances, limited funding, capacity gaps, and underrepresentation compared to international actors. The study provides practical recommendations to enhance meaningful participation and empower local actors to take on stronger leadership roles, contributing to a more effective and sustainable humanitarian response.

As part of ongoing efforts to improve living conditions and promote sustainable solutions for displacement-affected communities, and with funding from the #ECHO through #DRC, an activity was implemented under the project “Improving living conditions and support durable solutions for communities affected by displacement throughout Yemen” The activity targeted Al Hudaydah Governorate, Al Khawkhah District, specifically Bani Jaber Camp, benefiting 1,492 camp residents.

The activity included the installation of 6 solar-powered lighting poles with floodlights, implemented with active participation from the local community as part of a community-based project. In addition, 10 solar-powered lighting units were maintained under the maintenance project activities. This intervention aims to improve public lighting services and enhance their efficiency within the targeted area.

This activity directly contributes to enhancing safety within the camp, particularly for the most vulnerable groups such as women, children, and the elderly, by improving lighting in public spaces and reducing risks associated with nighttime movement. It also supports the sustainability of lighting infrastructure and strengthens its resilience to climate-related challenges, including the impacts of flooding.

This intervention is part of a broader series of activities aimed at improving basic services in affected camps, contributing to creating a safer and more stable environment for residents, and supporting sustainable solutions that enhance community resilience and adaptability.

Watch the story of the child Radfan, who was forced to drop out of school due to the conflict, before finding his way back to the classroom through non-formal education and a supportive learning environment provided through the intervention of #Nahda_Makers_Organization, with support from #UNICEF and funding from #European_Union.

This story comes within the non-formal education program, which benefited 2,393 students in the project “supporting the OOSC through innovative and integrated programming in child protection and education to increase access to formal education” in Al-Khawkhah District, Al Hudaydah Governorate. 

As part of ongoing efforts to enhance the sustainability of water resources and support the agricultural sector, a monitoring field visit was conducted under the activities of the “Integrated Water Resources Management to Enhance Resilience of Agriculture (ERA) and Food Security Project”, funded by #KfW, implemented by #UNDP, and in collaboration with #Nahda_Makers.

The visit included follow-up on the implementation of an activity involving the distribution of 186 handheld agricultural machines to 17 Water User Associations. It also reviewed a range of development interventions implemented in the area, including construction works, rural roads, home gardens, and agricultural terraces.

The visit aimed to assess the quality of the implemented works, as well as evaluate the impact of these interventions in strengthening the resilience of local communities and improving the efficiency of water resource management, thereby contributing to enhanced food security and sustainable agricultural production.

The visit was attended by a number of officials and specialists, including Mr. Nabil Jamel, Director of the Planning and International Cooperation Office – Taiz; Eng. Abdullah Al-Duais, Director of the Agriculture and Irrigation Office – Taiz; Eng. Ahmed Al-Maqrami, Director of the General Authority for Water Resources Office – Taiz; Dr. Najm Al-Din, National Project Manager of the Integrated Water Resources Management Project; Ms. Buran, Water Resources Management Specialist; Eng. Saddam Al-Mansouri from the technical unit of UNDP; Mr. Mohammed Sameer, Food Security and Livelihoods Program Manager at Nahda Makers Organization; and Mr. Sabri Al-Nabhani, UNDP Coordinator for Al-Mawaset District.

These efforts come within the framework of strengthening the integration between natural resource management and agricultural development, contributing to building more resilient communities capable of addressing climate challenges and achieving sustainable development.

As part of its ongoing efforts to monitor implementation and ensure quality, the executive management of Nahda Makers Organization (NMO) conducted a field visit to construction and agricultural work sites under the FuTuRe2 and FuTuRe3 projects funded by #KSRelief and #BMZ in partnership with #WFP in Seiyun Al-Qatn and Shebam districts, to closely review the progress and status of activities.

This visit reflects the organization’s commitment to enhancing performance efficiency and ensuring that interventions are implemented in line with the highest standards, leading to tangible and sustainable results for the targeted communities.

 The organization also appreciates the important role of local authorities and their continuous cooperation, which has significantly contributed to facilitating project implementation and supporting its success.

Hadhramaut region in southeastern Yemen suffers from critical challenges resulting from ongoing conflicts and economic deterioration, including the devaluation of the local currency and poor environmental conditions. The districts of AlQatn, Seiyun, Shibam, Wadi Al Ayn, Doan, and Rakhyah are particularly affected, which has had a direct impact on the people living in these areas.

From Wasted Effort to Solar Professionalism: How to Become a Leader in the Profession of the Future?

In Al-Hazm area of Shibam district, Mahrous Rabih Awad Muqaram, a 60-year-old breadwinner of six, lived a life of effort and search. Despite his attempts to acquire knowledge in the field of electricity and solar energy online, his struggle was wasting a lot of time and effort in seeking financial income to provide for his family. He needed an organized work framework and a profession that would generate a sustainable income with minimal effort.

Amid these circumstances, the "From Food to Resilience” project came through vocational training in the field of electricity and solar energy, which was implemented by Nahda Makers Organization in partnership with the World Food Program and funded by King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center. This intervention marked a decisive turning point in Mahrous's life, providing him with guidance, mentorship, practical knowledge through training and practical application, as well as professional tools through the empowerment kit that help him develop his own business.

Mahrous says with a smile and reassurance:

"Without a doubt, our situation improved better after the intervention to guide and guide us to what is beneficial to us towards hope... Through this profession and its demand in the labor market, it has been the cause of increasing income with less fatigue and effort."

The impact of the project did not stop at the financial aspect only, as Mahrous gained knowledge in the field of installation and maintenance of solar energy systems, which gave him a practical and professional ability that qualifies him to engage in the labor market with confidence. Thus, the impact became evident in improving his standard of living and economic stability, in addition to his contribution to spreading the culture of using renewable energy among his local community through his work and daily experiences.

At the end of his story, Mahrous did not forget to thank the implementing and funding agencies, saying:

"We thank Nahda Makers Organization, the World Food Programme (WFP) and the supporter of King Salman Relief Center for this opportunity to improve our sources of income, and we urge them to continue such projects."

This recognition came as part of the “Victory Day” event organized by members of the “We Are All Safe Aden” Coalition, marking the eleventh anniversary of the liberation of Aden. The event was held under the patronage of H.E. the Minister of Youth and Sports, Mr. Nayef Al-Bakri, and H.E. the Minister of State and Governor of Aden, Mr. Abdulrahman Sheikh, and was attended by a number of official and community figures.

This recognition stands as a testament to Nahda Makers Organization’s efforts and reflects its continued commitment to humanitarian work and serving affected communities under all circumstances.

Nahda Makers Organization participated in the activities of Humanitarian Networks and Partnerships Week (HNPW) held in Geneva, Switzerland, with the participation of various humanitarian actors from different countries around the world.

The organization was represented at the event by its President, Faiza Al‑Tamimi, who took part in several sessions and discussions addressing key issues in humanitarian work and highlighting the importance of strengthening coordination and cooperation among actors in the sector.

The participation aimed to explore diverse experiences and practices in humanitarian action and to exchange knowledge with participants, contributing to improving performance and enhancing opportunities for collaboration in support of the most vulnerable communities.

This participation reflects the organization’s commitment to benefiting from international platforms for dialogue and knowledge exchange in the humanitarian field.

In coordination with the Office for NGO Affairs and the local authority in Lahj Governorate, and within the framework of the Local Empowerment for Leadership, Accountability, and Coordination in Direct Funding project, #NMO implemented a Multi-Purpose Cash Assistance (MPCA) distribution for 260 of the most vulnerable households in Tuban District, Lahj Governorate.

Each household received 242,000 Yemeni Rials. This step comes as part of the organization’s ongoing efforts to support affected families and strengthen their ability to meet their basic needs, particularly in light of the difficult economic conditions faced by many households.

These cash assistance interventions aim to alleviate the hardships faced by beneficiary families during the remaining days of the holy month of Ramadan, enabling them to secure their essential needs and better prepare for Eid Al-Fitr by covering some of its basic requirements, thereby bringing a sense of relief and joy to their families.

These interventions are part of the continued efforts of Sona’a Al-Nahda Organization to strengthen humanitarian response and support the most vulnerable groups through programs and projects that contribute to improving the living conditions of local communities, in coordination and partnership with relevant authorities and local stakeholders.

In Babiker area of AlQatn District of Hadramout governorate, farmer Mazen Ali Jamaan al-Ai, a 46-year-old breadwinner of five, faced significant challenges in maintaining the sustainability of his source of income. He ran a small nursery whose activity was limited to growing seedlings and selling them before they bore fruit, due to the lack of space and the lack of resources to buy greenhouses or expand production.

The From Food to Resilience project, implemented by Nahda Makers Organization #NMO in partnership with the World Food Programme #WFP and with the support of King Salman Relief Center #KSRelief , marked a turning point in Mazen's life.
Through this intervention, he obtained a 9×42-meter greenhouse equipped with all agricultural supplies, including seeds, fertilizers and pesticides.

Mazen says with a smile and reassurance:

"Thank God (Allah) before and after, the reserve was planted and now produces and sells cucumbers and gets a financial return that meets our needs and the requirements of the family. The most important benefit is the daily income from the crop as well as the acquisition of modern agricultural skills."

The impact of the project was not limited to the financial aspect, but also provided Mazen with a real opportunity to plan for a sustainable future. His reserve has been transformed into a permanent productive project that provides for his family's needs and creates job opportunities for young people in his area.

At the end of his story, Mazen expressed his thanks and gratitude to the implementing and supporting authorities, saying:

"I would like to thank Nahda Makers Organization and the World Food Organization for the implementation of this project, and I would also like to thank King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center for the generous support that contributed to improving our livelihoods and opening new horizons for a better future."

Mazen Ali story embodies the impact of development projects aimed at supporting productive assets in transforming small enterprises from a mere source of limited income to sustainable production that contributes to enhancing food security and providing job opportunities for young people.

Farmer Hussein Bin Wabr was able to transform his farm (Al-Henna Farm) into a more productive model after the rehabilitation of his agricultural land, with support from (#BMZ), in partnership with #WFP, and implemented by #Nahda_Makers.as part of the “Food to Resilience #FuTuRe 2024 ” project A step that changed the future of the farm and opened a new door to improving the farmer’s livelihood and that of his family.

As part of efforts to support sustainable water resources management and strengthen the resilience of agricultural communities, development interventions continue to improve food security and livelihoods in areas most affected by climate change and economic challenges. In this context, activities of the “The Integrated Water Resources Management to Enhance Resilience of Agriculture and Food Security” were implemented in Salow and Al-Mawasit districts of #Taiz Governorate. The project is funded by #KfW, implemented by #UNDP, in cooperation with #Nahda_Makers, as part of integrated interventions aimed at supporting agricultural communities and promoting resource sustainability.

Within the project’s infrastructure activities, a home gardens initiative was implemented to strengthen household food security, improve nutrition, and diversify income sources. A total of 896 home gardens were distributed, benefiting 896 households across the two districts.

The activity included distributing home garden kits to beneficiaries, who installed and began cultivating the gardens themselves after receiving awareness sessions and practical training on installation methods and the use of drip irrigation systems. Agricultural engineers provide daily field supervision to ensure proper implementation and sustainable production.

The initiative adopts a community empowerment approach, with beneficiaries leading the implementation process themselves, supported by technical guidance from agricultural consultants. This approach strengthens ownership and sustainability. The project targets farmers, women, internally displaced persons (IDPs), water user associations, and local offices of agriculture, irrigation, and water resources, contributing to building local capacity and enhancing resilience to environmental and economic challenges.

These interventions form part of broader efforts to strengthen agricultural resilience and promote the efficient use of water resources, thereby supporting food security and sustainable development.

As part of Displacement and Climate-induced Emergency Response Project in Yemen, Nahda Makers (#NMO), with funding from (#ECW) and in partnership with (#NRC), has implemented a package of educational interventions in targeted schools across Taiz and Al Hudaydah governorates. The initiative aims to support students affected by displacement and ensure their continued access to education.

The implementation of remedial classes across 8 targeted schools represents a key component of the project. These classes focus on strengthening foundational skills in literacy and numeracy, helping to bridge learning gaps caused by educational disruption, reducing the risk of school dropout, and improving students overall academic performance.

As part of the direct student support component, the project also included the distribution of:

• Distribution of School Kits
• Distribution of Students Kits and Curriculum
• Distribution of Menstrual kits for Adolescents Girls

To ensure the sustainability and effectiveness of the remedial classes, monthly incentives were provided to 160 teaching and administrative staff, reinforcing their commitment to the teaching schedule and enhancing the quality of education delivery within the targeted schools.

The project further supported educational supervisors in conducting field monitoring visits aimed at assessing performance, providing technical feedback to staff, and strengthening overall teaching quality to ensure improved learning outcomes.

Through these integrated interventions, the project seeks to enable students to actively participate in remedial classes, create a supportive learning environment, and address girls’ specific health needs to enhance their retention in school.

These efforts form part of broader joint initiatives to strengthen the resilience of communities affected by displacement and climate-related emergencies, while safeguarding children’s right to safe, inclusive, and quality education.

Funded by #YHF and within the Shelter & CCCM sector, #Nahda_Makers has concluded a Life-saving and life-sustaining project addressing the Protection, Shelter and CCCM needs of the IDPs and vulnerable people in Al-Khukhah district, Al Hodeida governorate, as a part of the response to urgent humanitarian needs in these areas.

The project sought to improve living conditions and provide safe and dignified shelter for affected and displaced families by delivering transitional shelter solutions and meeting essential shelter and energy needs. It also aimed to support camp stability and enhance safety through the provision of maintenance tools and construction materials, in a manner that preserves beneficiaries’ dignity.

Implementation activities included the supply and installation of transitional shelter kits, the distribution of non-food items, the distribution of alternative energy kits, as well as the provision of maintenance tools and building materials. These interventions were carried out across IDP sites, benefiting 24,821 internally displaced persons and individuals from the most vulnerable groups.

The project was implemented within a comprehensive humanitarian framework focused on improving living conditions for affected and displaced households at displacement sites by providing safe and adequate shelter based on transitional solutions that ensure minimum standards of privacy and protection.

It also aimed to meet essential shelter- and energy-related needs to reduce daily risks faced by families, while contributing to greater stability and safety within camps through the provision of necessary maintenance and construction materials—thereby helping to safeguard beneficiaries’ dignity and strengthen their resilience amid challenging humanitarian conditions.

In the context of supporting the sustainable management of water resources and strengthening the resilience of agricultural communities, activities of “The Integrated Water Resources Management to Enhance Resilience of Agriculture and Food Security” were implemented in Al-Salow and Al-Mawasit districts of #Taiz Governorate. The project is funded by #KfW, implemented by #UNDP, in cooperation with #Nahda_Makers, as part of integrated interventions aimed at improving food security and livelihoods in the most affected areas.

The activities included the implementation of forty specialized training courses on home gardens, distributed as twenty courses in Al-Mawasit District and twenty courses in Al-Salow District. These trainings aimed to enable households to apply sustainable agricultural practices based on the efficient use of water.

The training objectives focused on strengthening the capacities of beneficiaries—particularly women and smallholder farmers—to establish and manage productive home gardens that contribute to improving household nutrition and income, enhancing self-sufficiency, and reducing the impacts of climate change.

A total of 896 beneficiaries benefited from the distribution of home gardens in the two districts, with 448 beneficiaries in Al-Mawasit District and 448 in Al-Salou District. Beneficiary households received practical knowledge and essential input that support the sustainability of these gardens and increase their productivity.

The home gardens training activity aims to empower beneficiary households, especially women and smallholder farmers, to acquire the knowledge and practical skills needed to establish and manage sustainable home gardens that rely on the efficient use of water, thereby contributing to improved food security and household nutrition, enhanced self-reliance, and the creation of additional sources of income support.

Funded by the #FCDO and implemented in partnership with the #NRC, #Nahda_Makers carried out the activity “Facilitate market linkages through market forums and trade fairs” by organizing a local products bazaar in Jabal Habashi District, Taiz Governorate, with the aim of supporting 426 beneficiaries who own small businesses in the agricultural, livestock, and handicraft sectors, this was in the presence of representatives from the Ministry of Planning and International Cooperation, the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor, and the Jabal Habashi Directorate.

The bazaar witnessed wide participation from small business owners across various sectors, including fresh agricultural products, as well as products such as footwear, cosmetics, tailoring services, in addition to livestock producers who showcased products such as cheese, honey, ghee, and other local goods.

The event stood out as a genuine commercial platform for displaying and selling products and services, providing participants with the opportunity to shop, interact with visitors, and expand their sales networks by building relationships with new distributors and retail traders.

This event aimed to empower beneficiaries to promote their products, expand their business networks, and establish new partnerships with local markets, thereby enhancing opportunities for business growth and sustainability.

The organization supported participants through training and by providing grants and essential tools needed to launch their own businesses, making the bazaar a practical outcome of economic empowerment and a real opportunity to benefit from training and grants by marketing products, improving incomes, and linking beneficiaries to the local market.

This activity comes as part of ongoing efforts to support livelihoods and enhance economic development in targeted communities through market forums and trade fairs, enabling beneficiaries to build effective partnerships, expand their commercial opportunities, and strengthen business growth.

The bazaar witnessed wide attendance, most notably by Mr. Ahmed Abdulmalik, Advisor to the Minister of Agriculture, Irrigation and Fisheries; Mr. Abdu Hamid, Director of Public Relations at the Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation and Fisheries; as well as representatives of NRC, the Planning and International Cooperation Office, the Governorate’s Agriculture Office, the Social Affairs and Labor Office, in addition to representatives of the District Administration and the Nahda Makers team.

It is worth noting that this activity is implemented under the project Building Resilience through integrated community-based and humanitarian systems transformation and leadership in Yemen (BRIGHTLY).

With the support of the #JVC and generous funding from the #People_of_Japan, #Nahda_Makers #NMO implemented the project “Expansion of educational facilities and equipment and improvement of the educational environment for girls in Al Mudaffar District - Taiz Governorate”, as part of its efforts to promote girls’ right to safe and sustainable education.

The project included the construction of three new classrooms at Aisha Girls’ School in Al Mudaffar District. A reinforced concrete school building was constructed and fully finished, contributing to the long-term sustainability of school expansion.

The activity also covered furnishing the classrooms with desks and whiteboards, in addition to the installation of an integrated solar energy system to ensure a stable electricity supply for the new classrooms. As part of a comprehensive approach to improving the school environment, 10 school toilets were rehabilitated and upgraded.

This intervention directly benefits 2,547 female students, including girls from the host community and internally displaced families, as well as 116 teachers, and approximately 30 members of the Parent-Teacher Association (PTA). The number of indirect beneficiaries is estimated at around 10,800 individuals, including students’ families and members of the surrounding local community.

The project aims to improve access and learning conditions for girls through school expansion, increase morning-shift enrollment by at least 168 additional students, reduce overcrowding in evening classes, and provide a safe and supportive learning environment for both students and teachers.

To enhance sustainability, the project also implemented a maintenance and awareness training activity targeting 30 teachers and PTA members, with the aim of strengthening their capacity to maintain and preserve the new facilities.

This project contributes to improving the educational environment and reducing pressure on schools, generating positive impacts on female students, their families, and the local community in Al Mudaffar District.

As part of the "Food to Resilience” #FuTuRe3 project funded by the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre #KSRelief and the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development #BMZ, and in partnership with the World Food Programme #WFP, Nahda Makers implemented  the “Gabion Rehabilitation” activity in Seiyun and Al-Qatn districts, with the aim of reducing flood risks and strengthening the resilience of agricultural communities.

The activity included the construction and installation of stone gabion barriers to protect agricultural land from destructive floods, stabilize soil and reduce erosion, as well as safeguard main irrigation canals from collapse. The work also involved excavation and land leveling using heavy machinery, followed by the manual construction of gabions in accordance with approved technical standards.

A total of 300 beneficiaries benefited from the activity, including the most vulnerable agricultural households, farmers affected by floods and soil erosion, agricultural laborers classified, in addition to female-headed households, the elderly, and persons with disabilities within the targeted agricultural communities.

The activity is being implemented with the direct participation of beneficiaries themselves through the Food/Cash for Assets approach, under the direct supervision of the engineering team of #Nahda_Makers, ensuring skills transfer and strengthening community ownership of the implemented assets.

The activity is expected to contribute to reducing the impacts of floods and climate change on agriculture, protecting farmers’ sources of income, enhancing the efficiency of irrigation water use, and supporting the resilience of agricultural communities, the sustainability of livelihoods, and improving food security in the medium and long term.
