#Nahda_Makers Implements the Integrated Water Resources Management to Enhance Resilience of Agriculture and Food Security Project

As part of its efforts to enhance food security and improve livelihoods, and with funding from the German Federal Government through the German Development Bank #KFW, implemented by #UNDP in cooperation with #Nahda_Makers Organization, the project “Integrated Water Resources Management to Enhance Resilience of Agriculture and Food Security Project” is currently being implemented in Al-Silu and Al-Mawaset districts of Taiz Governorate.

The project targets 5,040 households directly and 35,284 individuals indirectly from both districts. It aims to enhance economic resilience and improve sustainable livelihoods for the most vulnerable groups by securing and improving their access to primary water sources essential for productive and income-generating uses.

Additionally, the project seeks to strengthen sustainable water governance by empowering community bodies and local authorities to actively participate in water resource management.

The project will also contribute to achieving economic impact through an integrated value chain development approach, focusing on improving food security and market access efficiency, thereby boosting productive activities, increasing income generation, and expanding employment opportunities within the value chains of key agricultural products.

As part of its activities, Nahda Makers Organization has conducted a series of training programs targeting Water User Associations in the two districts, including training on Financial Management & Accounting Systems, as well as Fundraising, with 51 participants in each session.

These training aims to Enhance water governance through institutional strengthening and capacity building of NWRA, Agriculture and Irrigation Offices, and WUAs/Water Committees in target areas to ensure ownership, operation and maintenance of infrastructure and accountability, water resources monitoring, as well as enhancing women wider participation in water resources management.

It is worth mentioning that this project is part  of interventions aimed at achieving sustainable development in rural communities and improving food and economic security for households through solutions that enhance resilience and support livelihood stability.
