#Nahda_Makers organizes a governorate-level community consultation conference for enhancing women's rights and inclusion at all levels

As part of ongoing efforts to raise awareness of women’s rights and ensure their meaningful participation across social, economic, and civic spheres, #Nahda_Makers organized a governorate-level community consultation conference for enhancing women's rights and inclusion at all levels. The conference was supported and funded by the #European_Union, in partnership with #ZOA, and was implemented under the project “Life-changing Interventions for Females to Thrive”.

The conference served as an inclusive dialogue platform aimed at discussing ways to strengthen women’s rights and ensure their inclusion at all levels. It brought together government authorities, civil society organizations, community leaders, local committees, as well as male and female activists, with the objective of producing practical visions and recommendations that contribute to advocating for the rights of women and girls.

The conference was attended by 100 participants, with due consideration given to gender equality and ensuring the active participation of women, in addition to the inclusion of persons with disabilities among the attendees, reflecting the organizers’ commitment to the principles of inclusion and non-discrimination.

The sessions addressed women’s empowerment and the impact of their community participation, digital safety and the protection of women and girls from online violence, as well as gender-based violence and its impact on early recovery.

The participating entities included:

  • The Director of the Social Affairs and Labor Office and its representatives.
  • Directors General of the three targeted districts in Taiz Governorate.
  • The Governorate Office for Planning and International Cooperation.
  • The Women’s Development Management Unit.
  • The Displacement Management Unit.
  • The Safe Space affiliated with the Social Affairs and Labor Office.
  • Local authorities.
  • Male and female activists and community committees.
  • Representatives of twenty civil society organizations partnering in the project.

The consultative conference contributed to creating an effective dialogue space that brought together all relevant stakeholders, enhanced awareness of women’s rights and inclusion issues, and produced practical recommendations that can be built upon in the upcoming phase, thereby strengthening efforts to protect and empower women and girls in Taiz Governorate.
