#Nahda_Makers Organizes a Consultative Workshop to Present the Results of the Mapping Study of Local Organizations within Coordination Structures to Local and International Actors

As part of ongoing efforts to strengthen local humanitarian leadership and expand the participation of national organizations in humanitarian coordination mechanisms, #NahdaMakers organized a consultative workshop titled “Consultative Workshop: Presenting the findings of the mapping exercise to national and international humanitarian actors and agreeing on key actions for developing an Action Plan for Enhancing Local and National NGOs' Participation in Decision-Making Processes in Coordination Mechanisms” The workshop was held under the (Humanitarian System Transformation through Local Humanitarian Leadership (HST-LHL) "project, funded by the #Ministry_of_Foreign_Affairs_Netherlands, and in partnership with #Oxfam.

The workshop brought together 40 participants representing national and local non-governmental organizations, including women-led organizations (WLOs), women’s rights organizations (WROs), and organizations of persons with disabilities (OPDs), alongside representatives from international NGOs, United Nations agencies, cluster coordinators, thematic working groups, government entities, and the private sector from the governorates of Aden, Lahj, Abyan, Taiz, Al Hudaydah, Sana’a, Marib, Hadramout Coast and Valley, and Al Mahrah.

The workshop aimed to engage key national and international humanitarian stakeholders in broad consultations to agree on priority actions that would strengthen the participation of local and national organizations in decision-making processes within humanitarian coordination mechanisms, based on the challenges and recommendations identified in the mapping study on local organizations’ participation in humanitarian coordination structures.

The workshop also included a presentation of the study’s key findings and facilitated consultative discussions among participants to identify practical priority actions for addressing the challenges faced by local and national organizations, thereby enhancing their active role and participation in humanitarian coordination and decision-making processes.

In addition, participants discussed proposed activities under each action, implementation timelines, responsible parties, and key performance indicators that would contribute to the development of a practical and comprehensive action plan to strengthen local humanitarian leadership.
